Finding the perfect hat is about more than function and fashion — It's also about the right fit. A properly fitted hat can best protect you from the elements, compliment an outfit, and even enhance your face.
General Hat Care
Extend the life of your hat by always handling it by the brim. The brim is designed to be handled, the crown of your hat is not. If you handle your hat by the crown, the dirt and oils on your hands can leave spots or stains.
The best way to care for your hat is to spot clean it with a warm, damp cloth. Harsh cleaning chemicals could damage the quality and appearance of your hat. Always allow your hat to air dry in the shade. Do not use a dryer or leave it in the sun on a really hot day, as heat can change the shape of your hat.
To keep the sweatband dry of perspiration, hair and skin products, and body oils, occasionally turn down the sweatband to dry. This will prevent the sweat and other residues from soaking into the crown of the hat, and potentially

How to Measure Your Head
When it comes to finding the right hat, size matters. Properly measuring your head size will determine your hat size and ensure that you get the perfect fit. The best hat will not only look good, but it will feel good. Before you buy, try these easy-to-follow steps.

Measuring tape OR ruler and a piece of string
Step one
Wrap the tape measure (or string) around the largest part of your head until the two ends meet at the center of your forehead just above your eyebrows. Firmly hold the tape or string mid-forehead with your finger, not too tightly or too loose. The goal is to determine precisely where your hat will sit for the most comfortable fit. Take note of the measurement from your measuring tape and use it to find your corresponding size on the hat sizing chart below.
If you're using a ruler and string, proceed to step two.
Step two
Take the string from your head, being careful to hold onto the end point so you have an accurate account of your head size. Measure the string with the ruler. Compare the measurement to the hat sizing chart below to find your corresponding size.

If the measurement is in between sizes on the hat size chart, choose the next larger size. Hats can shrink with time from sweat, humidity, and washing, especially certain hat styles such as cotton baseball caps. Conversely, leather hats, straw hats, and felt hats can stretch a bit after use, but you should still go bigger if in between sizes. After all, a slightly roomier hat is much more comfortable and easier to pad than a hat that's too tight and gives you a headache.
Hat Sizing Is Not an Exact Science
Even though the hat sizes provided are standard across the USA, there are various factors that can affect the fit such as the hat maker, the material of the hat, and even how much hair you have.

Don't worry if you have a big head (we're not talking about your ego). We have large hats — otherwise known as big head hats — to help provide the perfect size for you from XXL to XXXL (many of our mens hats come in XL already).

The band is normally a decorative and supportive belt made of fabric, leather, or a synthetic material that encircles the crown just above the brim.
The bash is the indent formed on the top of the crown. The shape of a bash, or its absence, defines the crown type.
The break is the point at which the brim is attached to the crown of the hat.
The brim is the horizontal ledge of fabric extending outward from the bottom of the hat crown. This is the part of the hat that provides shade and other protection from the elements, in addition to style.
The crown is the portion of the hat above the brim, which sits on or covers the top of your head.
The dent refers to the indentations made along the front, back, and sides of the crown.
The dip refers to the depth at which the brim is angled down.
The roll is the outer portion of the brim on some styles of hats that is curved upward and inward towards the crown.
